RUTHLESS manager Mark Wright has told Wayne Purser his Posh career is over.
Wright has warned the pint-sized hitman he doesn't figure in his plans as he bids to bolster the London Road attack with loan signings.
Purser has attracted strong interest from Nationwide Conference South outfit Weymouth, but is known to be keen to remain at London Road to fight for his place.
The 25 year-old is under contract until the end of next season but Wright insists leaving is the best option all-round – enabling Purser to play regular football, while freeing up more of the Posh budget to help attract new faces to the club
Wright said: "It is no secret the club didn't score enough goals last year and it is critical we address that.
"I have spoken to Wayne, informed him of my stance and tried to be as up-front about it as possible.
"I really don't see the point in Wayne sitting around and fighting for a place if he has no chance of playing.
"I am targeting loan signings from higher division clubs, which will push Wayne further down the pecking order.
"A club has come in for Wayne who are able to offer him regular football and I have advised him to take up that offer."
Purser arrived on a free transfer from non-league Hornchurch in November after scoring 15 goals in as many matches for the crisis-stricken Nationwide Conference South outfit.
He scored in his first two Posh matches, but finished the season with six goals in 26 appearances.
Director of football at London Road, Barry Fry added: "Wayne spoke to me recently and indicated that he wanted to stay and fight for his place, but it's up to Mark who he wants and who he picks."
Weymouth are managed by former Hornchurch boss Garry Hill.
Always tried hard but just not quite good enough, good luck to him though
