What a mental match.
38 minutes in with the Clarets cruising at 2-0, thanks to an Akinbiyi brace, Burnley 'keeper Brian Jensen gets sent off for handball outside of the box.
SHOCK HORROR! Burnley have no goalie on the bench, so up steps John Spicer (who had set up both of the goals) to put on the goalkeepers jersey and gloves.
Just before the break, Luton pull one back. Everyone expects the floodgates to open in the second hald. Surely Luton are gonna go on and win...
Nobody expected then, early in the second half, Akinbiyi popping up and scoring a 3rd, completing his hat-trick from the spot.
Burnley fans were joyous for about a minute, when Luton went up and got a second.
It was nailbiting, squeaky bum time... and Luton piled on the pressure.
Spicer was forced into 3 or 4 fantastic saves, and the boys in claret and blue pull through the remaining 35 minutes plus 4 minutes overtime.
Who would you give man of the match?
Hat-trick scorer Akinbiyi or Provider of two goals and saver of four Spicer
