The Netherlands national football team is controlled by the Royal Netherlands Football Association. Netherlands is one of the world's strongest national teams, having won the European Championship in 1988. They are among favorites to win the World Cup this year according to some Sportsbook odds.
They reached two consecutive World Cup finals, but lost both (1974 and 1978). At the peak of its success in the 1970s, the team was nicknamed "Clockwork Orange" for its precise passing.

It was previously known as the Yugoslavia national football team when the country was called the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, until February 2003 when the name of the country was changed to Serbia and Montenegro.
It will be renamed the Serbia national football team when the current republic splits, with the Montenegro national football team being created to represent the new state of Montenegro.
