An early Sweden goal have sent England crashing out of Euro 2005 at Ewood Park. A 3rd minute Anna Sjöström shot past England goalkeeper Rachel Brown booked Sweden a place in the Semi-Final along with Finland who beat Denmark 2-1 at Blackpool's home ground. Despite all England's best efforts including Eniola Aluko's header from the goalkeeper's clearance the Swedish back line were too strong.
Full Time: England 0 Sweden 1 (H/T:0-1)
Overall: We're not a strong team but we rose to the challenge but unfortuantely it didn't pay off despite having home advantage. Players like Rachel Yankey and Karen Carney (the female Wayne Rooney) were a credit to the squad but Kelly Smith had a dissapointing championship due to her not being 100% fit after picking up a injury against Denmark last Wednesday. The media coverage has probably increased the amount of interest in the women's game but it is still behind the men's. My final message for Hope Powell and the girls is "The only way is up!!".
